Faith in the middle of Chaos

I know many of you may not be Christian, and I respect that, so take a minute to read this and take the base idea.

I’m just not feeling it today. Everyone wants something, and I don’t have the energy or thoughts to even lift an arm. Yet I must get up and move through the day with a hopeful lens.

One thing that grounds me is my faith. My ability to sit down and read God’s word gives me an opportunity to fill a bit of my bucket before anything else.

Honestly, though, I often don’t even have the capacity to think about sitting down and reading a devotional. I just feel everything around me spiraling. Kiddo is hungry, family members need help, and I’m trying to get my day set to where I can function. It feels impossible to spend time in my faith. To give anything else my attention.

Just another job to do. Tick it off the list.

Stop! I tell myself. Take a deep breath!

Learning to have faith isn’t about always having these sweet, calm moments. It’s about having a heart for prayer and gratitude in the middle of cleaning up vomit, doing laundry, or whatever we are doing.

I have found that if I can have my morning meeting with God; I am better off. If not, I meet God where I am in that moment. He knows more than I do about what I need.

Even a slight moment of faith can make the next moments much better.

So today I want to encourage myself more than anyone. Take a second, get your breath, and thank God you have one!

Allowing faith at the moment can often be sweeter than what we imagine. If you don’t, then everything turns negative and your emotions run the day.

“Faith is having confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1
